The Once and Future Piano

How Pianos Have Changed Through the Years

(Photo)

For over three hundred years the piano has been at the center of music. Evolving from the original forte-piano of the early 1700’s, to the majestic sound of today’s concert grand, the unique sound of the piano has been a part of virtually every style of western music.

Originally digital pianos used a basic ‘sampling’ process to record and playback the sound of a fine acoustic piano. This technique was a good beginning, but it lacked the ability to produce a wide-range of organic tone color.

Today’s Roland pianos incorporate our exclusive SuperNATURAL sound that provides an astonishing array of color that blurs the line between traditional acoustic and digital pianos.

For visual representation of how SuperNATURAL piano sound is able to accomplish this task, watch the video.
